Meet the Year 6 teacher...
Mr J Pemberton
Class 6P is the Year Six class at Dartmouth Academy.
Jack Pemberton is the class teacher, supported by Jenny Taylor, Jenny Hutchings and Sue Phillips at various times throughout the school week. Year Six work closely with Miss Mears and the team in Year Five, who share the fantastic learning space known as the Gateway Barn.
The school day begins at 8.50am and ends at 3.15pm with a morning break and a 50-minute lunch beginning at 12.20pm.
Learning in Class 6P is fast-paced and focused, following fixed routines and systems, particularly in the mornings, where the majority of the maths and English learning takes place. The afternoons provide opportunities to explore and experience learning in the foundation subjects which, thanks to our unique ‘all-throughness’, is often led by experienced secondary specialists.
Every Friday, weekly home learning is issued to pupils in Year Six; tasks range from daily reading to on-line maths and grammar games. Home Learning Diaries provide detailed results of regular practice tests which the children take in school and keep parents and carers informed of their child’s academic progress.
We would be delighted to welcome to you in to our class to show you what we do.
