Due to popular request, we are reinstating the 'Artist of the Week'. This week, we have a piece from Year 10 Art & Design student, Nicole Petrova. This piece from Nicole's A&D sketch book is based on the work of French artist André Derain. Derain's original piece, on the left of the picture, was extended out to the right by Nicole after researching Derain's work and techniques.
The book Friend or Foe was based on two boys during the war. They are from London and they are evacuated into the countryside. The boys catch sight of a plane crashing in the moors and go to investigate when Davey falls into the stream but who saves him?
I enjoyed the suspense in this book, when I reached the end I felt it was only the beginning and I wanted more. I would recommend this book to 11 to 13 year olds of any gender.

Having a post-Christmas clear out? If you have any unwanted children's books that your little ones have grown out of, we'd love to have them for our Academy Library. Please bring any donations to the Academy Main Reception or the Helpdesk. Thank you.
This book is about a girl who didn’t want her dad to sell their boat ‘Moana’ because her mum and her dad made it before her mum went missing. When Kara first met Felix they didn’t get on but when it came to saving the white dolphin they worked together. I loved this book but it was hard to start it but when you carried on reading it was hard to stop. I finished this book when I was with my dad in the tractor! I really recommend this book for other people!
