In May Year 3 and 4 children had a one night residential trip at Dewerstone Cottage on Dartmoor with Young Spirit. The children started their journey on a sunny walk through beautiful Dartmoor alongside the River Tavy. Whilst having their lunch and dipping their toes in the cool water, they spotted an eel and fed it the remains of their lunch, a rare find we were told! The children enjoyed whittling toasting forks and then using them to cook their bread on an open fire. The e
On Friday 24th June we were visited by Chocolate and Paddy, two beautiful donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary in Ivybridge. Nursery and Reception children were able to get close to the donkeys and groomed them and gave them lots of cuddles. The donkeys seemed to enjoy it and even braved the heavy downpours! The children loved it and were entranced by these patient and docile animals. Thank you to the Donkey Sanctuary for making a wet day special!

Children at Dartmouth Academy have been working with Dartmouth Green Partnership to create a beautiful flower bed fit for a Queen! The children from Year Two to Year Four helped to design the Royal themed flower bed in Avenue Gardens choosing red, white and blue strips of colour to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.
On Friday 10th June we had a visit from Jack's Zoo + The Animal Lecture Service. Jack brought in five fascinating creatures- a giant millipede, a chinchilla, a bearded dragon, an Africa albino hedgehog and an owl. Children from F1 to Year 5 were able to see the animals close up and were able to stroke them. Jack told us a lot about the animals and we learnt that the chinchilla is the softest animal in the world. All the children were very sensitive to the needs of the animals
