On Thursday 19th March, 14 Year 8 students spent the day creating news reports for the BBC's School Report Day. The annual event has now been running for 8 years and Dartmouth has participated in every one so far. There are now over a thousand schools all over the UK participating in the special day where students create news reports using a range of media including newspaper articles, radio programmes, video reports and more. This week at Dartmouth Academy, students have had the opportunity to get involved with a variety of activities led by the Science team. Some have enjoyed finding out where a whole range of pork produce comes from, seeing a pig butchered and tasting some culinary delights including pig cheek casserole, belly pork, pig's liver, tenderloin and pig's kidneys. This was followed later in the week with pupils getting stuck in, making their own sausages and pork burgers from scratch
For Year 13 students, exams are fast approaching with the Art & Design exams starting on 15th April after the Easter Holidays. Exam timetables are on display in the Dart Centre and the Academy website. Students have all now completed their applications and interviews for universities for September and are now revising and completing coursework to obtain the best grades for the final exams to enable their entry to university.

The Academy's PTA, Dartmouth Academy Friends, met last week to discuss a range of topics and fundraising activities for the school. The group decided that they will be focussing this year on fundraising for new playground equipment.

Each week, children in Years 1-6 answer questions posed to them by the maths games website, Sumdog. The pupils challenge themselves to answer as many questions as possible throughout the week, with those who answer the most questions awarded the accolade of Sumdog Champion!
