    ​Dartmouth Academy students experience Tour of Britain cycle race first hand

    As the popularity of cycling continues to grow across the country, a recent Skills Day at Dartmouth Academy provided a superb opportunity to sample the atmosphere of the UK's biggest professional bike race, the Tour of Britain, while developing their studies in Science, Maths, Physical Education and Geography.     During the summer break, Dartmouth Academy Year 11 student Chris Wright (pictured above with his team) travelled all the way to Tajikistan in South East Asia to compete in the Taekwondo World Championships.     Dropping off and picking up children in Years 1-6

    After a hectic few weeks the building work is finally coming to an end. Because of this, we can finally use all of the correct entrances and exits instead of the temporary entrances to the school. This makes the start and end of the day run smoothly and makes sure we keep your children safe.     We always encourage parents and carers to read and explore books with their child, children are much more likely to succeed and thrive in school when this happens. Therefore, we would like to invite parents of primary aged learners to visit the Academy Library at the end of the school day with your child to help them choose books to take home to read.     Welcome back to the new school year!

    The Academy is now in its 5th year and the foundations we have put into getting the curriculum and teaching right are bearing fruit. It has been great to see the children and students back – the noise and vibrancy that comes with them really brings the building to life! Results are as good as last year’s record and in some respects even better. This summer two thirds of Year 11 gained a grade C or better in English and nearly two thirds gained a grade C or better in Maths.

    Art Exhibition Another Big Success for Dartmouth Academy

    Dartmouth Academy’s annual Art & Design exhibition at the Flavel was ‘again even better than last year’ according to Mrs Perrott. The exhibition, which ran from 3rd - 14th July, featured work from GCSE and A Level students. The work on display showcased the breadth of disciplines supported by the Academy’s Art & Design department, including textiles, sculpture, photography, painting and multimedia work combining a variety of elements of these skills.
